I’ve always been an audience focused writer, must be my theatre roots. I consider my ability to put myself in the shoes of a perspective audience a sort of secret weapon in approaching a communication challenge.

Today I had the opportunity to meet with Andy Van Slokema of Visual Hero. Andy’s work is centered on the experience–user experience, customer experience. Andy takes this idea of an audience-centered approach to a whole new level. By analyzing and deconstructing a communication challenge into the elements most important to the customer and then putting it back together with thoughtful analysis, Visual Hero delivers human-center design. It’s effective. It’s the way of the future.

Andy’s company is wildly creative. You could feel it in the air. I’m grateful to Andy for sharing his time and company philosophy with me. His passion for the user experience is contagious.
